Abstract: Carbonylation of C2H4 in aq. CF3CO2H containing 10-​100:1 Ph3P-​Pd(OAc)​2 at 30-​70° and 1 atm gave Et2CO and CO2 with approximately 80​% selectivity. Analogous reaction with propylene gave mixtures of Pr2CO, (Me2CH)​2CO, PrCOCHMe2, PrCHO and Me2CHCHO.
