Abstract: IT is known that vanadyl and copper compounds are catalysts for the oxidation of organic sulphides to sulphoxides [1]. It was previously established that petroleum sulphide concentrates can be subjected to liquid-phase oxidation with atmospheric oxygen in the presence of vanadyl compounds without a solvent [2]. This paper is concerned with a study of catalytic oxidation of petroleum sulphides to sulphoxides in isopropanol, a solvent.
