Abstract: A reaction of benzene with the surface α-oxygen produced at N2O decomposition over FeZSM-5 zeolite has been studied using IR-spectroscopy and chromatography. The reaction has been shown to proceed at room temperature producing phenol with a nearly stoichiometric yield.
