Abstract: It is shown that the solid titanium dioxide aerosol, obtained from combustion in air of a pyrotechnic mixture containing titanium microparticles, has optic, chemical, and photocatalytic properties similar to those of titanium dioxide produced in other ways. An aerosol cloud produced from such titanium dioxide immediately in the place of abrupt emission of pollution favors purification of the gas-phase atmosphere nearby the pollution source.
