Abstract: Multicomponent nanocrystalline coatings synthesized by the plasma-assisted vacuum arc method at high-temperatures are studied in situ by the X-ray diffraction method using synchrotron radiation. The main features of these coatings are superhardness (39–45 GPa) and nanocrystalline structure (5–20 nm). Analysis of the results of structural and phase investigations and the physical and mechanical characteristics after high-temperature treatment in air is presented
