Abstract:
In this work a systematic study of dynamics of CO2 sorption by potassium carbonate confined to various host matrices (silica gel, alumina, vermiculite, porous carbons) is performed. The dynamics is studied in a fixed-bed absorber at 40 C. It is shown thatthe dynamic sorption capacity amounts up to 0.094 g CO2 per 1 g of the alumina based composites. The dynamic capacity strongly depends on the nature of host matrix and decreases in a sequence alumina > activated carbon > vermiculite > silica gel. To determine the sorption mechanism the sorbents are studied by FTIR, XRD, TEM and nitrogen adsorption techniques.
