Abstract: Article deals with effect of anions on specific surface area of ferric hydroxide, which is used as catalyst in many reactions, for example, conversion of carbon monoxide or dehydrogenation of alcohols Fe(OH)3 specimens containing up to 4% Cl have almost the same specific surface area; further increase in chlorine content rapidly reduces specific surface area by formation of iron oxide phase.
