Development of new catalytic processes requires a new generation of metal catalyst carriers, possessing high mechanical strength and thermal conductivity. At present, one of relatively low-cost methods for producing metal powders for such catalyst carriers is mechanical activation of powder mixtures of different metals with aluminum powder in planetary mills. We have studied hydration hardening of aluminum-bearing mechanically alloyed (MA) powders at temperatures not exceeding 100°C, as well as structures and properties of porous cermet composites with high permeability to liquids and gases containing a nanostructural constituent, which maintains high specific surface area of the composites. We have analyzed structures of porous composites, integrated with porous and compact construction elements of different chemical composition, containing titanium, aluminum, rust-resisting steel, etc. We have found out that an intermediate layer is formed between porous composites and structural elements. This layer provides adhesion between materials of different chemical nature.
