Abstract: The effect is studied of the reaction conditions on the oxidn. rate of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) and compn. of products. Hydroxide compds. of Cu, Fe supported on catalyst supports such as SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, or zeolites (NaA, ZSM-5) with active components content ≤ 2 wt% and bulk iron hydroxides and oxides are used as catalysts. Air oxygen or hydrogen peroxide of the concn. 1-3 wt% is used as oxidizer at 298-323 K and atm. pressure. The reaction of UDMH with formaldehyde is used for spectrophotometric anal. of UDMH. The half-time of the UDMH decompn. at its oxidn. by hydrogen peroxide and air in the presence of Cu- and Fe-contg. catalysts is compared. The half-time is decreased when hydrogen peroxide is used instead of air. Without catalysts the oxidn. of UDMH with hydrogen peroxide occurs by two order of magnitude slower. The detoxication of the aq. solns. of UDMH must be performed in the presence of catalysts at the pH ≤ 7. If the initial concn. of UDMH is high, the Cu-contg. catalysts must be used at ambient temp. with air as oxidant. The process is developed for cleaning scrubbing waters from UDMH and can be used for purifn. of industrial wastewaters contg. UDMH. https://archive.org/stream/DTIC_ADA396885/DTIC_ADA396885_djvu.txt
