Abstract:
We present a new approach to localization of canards in phase space in a 2D dynamical system, which exhibit relaxation oscillations. Our method is based only on the solution of algebraic equations and uses the envelope of straight lines passing through the contact points of isoclines with different slope and the vector field. We present an example of canard in the Van der Pol system, for which the difference between the estimation curves and the canard solution is of O(e2) as e goes to zero.
