Abstract: The purpose of the present article was to review and summarize advances in the field of catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into chemical and fuels. We consider different approaches namely (i) aqueous thermal catalytic methods, including one-pot reaction over bifunctional catalysts; (ii) thermochemical catalytic treatment, including flash pyrolisys of grinded wood to produce bio-oil and its catalytic hydrotreatment to reduce the content of oxygen. The main achievements and problems proper for both approaches are discussed.
