Реферат: The oxidn. of H2 and the adsorption of reaction components on Ir, Pt, Pd, and Rh surfaces were studied. Three forms of O were distinguished: (1) O2 which is inert with respect to H2, (2) dissociative (highly reactive O), and (3) surface oxides (less reactive O). The dissocd. O reacted with H at 120-230 K. The most active surfaces were stepped faces, the least active were rough faces. The presence of a sharp reaction boundary and Oads islands indicates the occurrence of reaction Hads + Oads. At 150-300 K and pressures of ∼10-7 torr in steady-state conditions, Rh had the lowest activity. Depending on the PH2 to PO2 ratio, 2 stationary regions of the reaction existed. A simple model is proposed which describes the catalytic action of metals in terms of adsorption.
