Abstract: The simultaneous presence of the "covalent" and "ionic" forms of adsorbed O is necessary for the formation of ethylene oxide in ethylene oxidn. on foil and powder Ag, while only the latter is needed for complete oxidn. High selectivity of epoxidn. is achieved at the initial period of the reaction over Ag pretreated with O at elevated temps.
