Abstract: O2¯ radical anions generated by adsorption of hydrogen peroxide or NO + O2 mixture were used as spin probes for EPR characterization of nanostructured zirconia catalysts, including pillared clays. Similarities and significant discrepancies observed in the formation of oxygen radical anions over catalysts with different composition and surface structure by the two methods are discussed. © 2006 Materials Research Society.
