Abstract: We have developed a method of post-synthesis modification of HZMS-5 with copper cations in which the zeolite is loaded with copper aqua ions by incipient wetness impregnation and then the copper ions located in the zeolite channels are subjected to hydrolytic polycondensation by treating the samples with NH3 solutions. In the present paper, we discuss the nature of uncommon ordering of Cu2+ ions in the HZMS-5 pore space that appears during post--synthesis modification of the zeolite by the above procedure, which was detected by EPR and electronic diffuse reflectance (UV-Vis DR) spectroscopy.
