Abstract:
We aimed to investigate the role of blood serum (BS) and red blood cells (RBCs) membrane levels of fatty acids (FAs) in the development of CRC and the possibility of FA using for diagnostic purposes. We investigated the FAs composition in BS, RBCs membranes from 95 patients with CRC (56+8 years old), 23 ones with adenomatous polyps (AP) and 28 healthy controls by the method of gas chromatography (GC/MS system triple quad Agilent 7000B(USA). The lipidomic profiles also were compared between early (n=44) and late stages (n=51) of CRC. Compared to the controls BS n-3 PUFA (p<0.001), C20:5 n-3 (p=0.016), C22:6 n-3 (p<0.001), n-6 PUFA (p<0.001) and C18:2 n-6 (p=0.002) in the AP group showed significantly reduced. At the same time compared to the AP group, n-3 PUFA (p=0.001), C22:6 n-3 (p=0.003), n-6 PUFA (p<0.001), C18:2 n-6 (p=0.002) and C20:4 n-6 (p=0.016) showed significantly increased in the CRC group. The ratio of n-6 PUFA and n-3 PUFA (p=0.001) and ratio of C20:4 n-6 and (C20:5 n-3+C22:6 n-3) (p<0.001) showed significantly increased in the AP group then those in healthy people. FAs panels should be considered promising for CRC diagnostics, including early.
