Abstract: The work is devoted to the preparation and characterization of catalysts for the reaction of partial oxidation of hydrocarbons based on platinum and rhodium supported by ϑ-Al2O3. First of all, we characterized the supports and their precursors: Pt(NO3)4, K2PtCl4, [Pt(NH3)4]Cl2, [Pt(NH3)2]Cl2, H2PtCl6 for platinum, Rh(NO3)3, RhCl3 for rhodium. Then we obtained catalysts by wetness impregnation from various precursors of active components for platinum and for rhodium. We studied the phase composition, structural features and catalyst properties using different physicochemical methods. The sizes of the platinum particles and the unit cell parameters vary depending on the precursor type. For rhodium-containing samples, the ratio of metallic to trivalent rhodium changes
