Abstract:
Adsorption Heat Transformation and Storage (AHTS) have attracted an increasing research interest as environmentally benign and energy saving technology for heating and cooling. Despite significant progress reached for the last decades, the enhancement of the Specific Cooling/Heating Power (SCHP) is prerequisite to make AHTS systems competitive with conventional compression chillers and heat pumps. Dynamics of adsorption/desorption stages of AHTS cycles is a key-stone that mainly affects the cycle SCHP. This communication addresses the dynamics of methanol sorption on two sorbents, which belong to a family of Composites “Salt inside Porous Matrix”, namely LiCl confined to mesoporous silica and macroporous vermiculite. Both sorbents have recently been suggested for seasonal heat storage in regions with moderately cold winter, like the south of Russia, the north of China, etc. The primary goal is the investigation of the effects of the matrix pore size, sorption/desorption pressure and temperature on the sorption dynamics. Based on the data obtained, the ways for enhancement of the sorption dynamics on the composite sorbents are suggested.
