Lipidome is an important branch of metabolome, as an important pathway of cellular energy metabolism, lipid metabolism is correlated with the development of many diseases, including colorectal cancer. Lipids not only serve as a source of energy, structural components of various cell membranes, but also play important roles in cytokine biosynthesis, cell signaling, energy metabolism, material transportation, cell proliferation, differentiation and development. The aim of the work was to investigate the lipidomic profile of serum, red blood cells (RBCs) from patients with CRC to identify the stage of the disease. These results of a lipid biomarker panels and the changing trends of various lipid classes should be considered promising for early diagnosis and the monitoring of CRC; to determine the potential mechanisms of this phenomenon in the development of CRC requires further study.
