Abstract:
Fragments of the Sikhote-Alin meteorite sample were examined by two-dimensional panoramic scanning micro-XRF-SR method using the principle of localization of inclusions. Inclusions were found with an abnormally high W content. High-precision 2D micro-XRF scanning method was used for analysis of inclusion. To determine the nature of the origin of tungsten in the sample particle for the selected inclusion, micro-XANES studies were performed. It was shown that obtained XANES data indicates rather the introduction of tungsten-containing particles during the process of sample preparation than about its extraterrestrial cosmic origin. © 2020 American Institute of Physics Inc.
