Abstract: Cellulose has been shown to be a perspective substrate for the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution over CdS based photocatalyst under visible light irradiation (450 nm). Multiphase photocatalyst was synthesized throw simple two stage method. Samples obtained were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy and XRD techniques. The influence of such reaction parameters as photocatalyst loading, substrate concentration and pH was investigated. The highest hydrogen evolution rate equaled to 0.8 mmol·h-1·gcat-1 with the calculated apparent quantum yield of 1.1 %.
