Abstract: The developed model predicts fairly well the mean concentration of SO3, i.e., the overall conversion of SO2 in the bang-bang concentration forcing of the final stage of a SO2 converter operating with a period of 13 min. It also gives the observed shape of the temperature-time behavior. These observations suggest that the kinetic model and its formulation for a fixed-bed reactor can be widely used for industrial K2O-V2O5 catalysts and com. reactors. A good simulation of step-change experiments and cyclic operation was obtained.
