Abstract: A series of ZrO2:xEu nanopowders (x = 0.04 – 6.85 wt.%) with a particle size of about 10 ± 4 nm was obtained by CO2 laser vaporization technique. According to XRD data the samples contain mainly the tetragonal phase of ZrO2. The obtained nanoparticles exhibit intense red luminescence with an absolute quantum yield of up to 18%.
