Abstract: The paper presents the results of applying a charge-exchange process in recording ion concentrations in model experiments with a laser-generated plasma. A new diagnostic method has been employed in an experiment on laser-generated plasma expansion in a dipole magnetic field. New quantitative as well as qualitative data on plasma dynamics, which may be of interest in studying explosive processes in the earth's magnetosphere, are obtained. The present paper is devoted for the most part to application of the new diagnostics.
