Abstract:
The formation of vanadium complexes with synthesized enantio- and diastereomerically pure polydentate
tetrahydrosalicylidene ligands of the diterpene series was studied using UV, visible, and 51V NMR spectroscopy.
The obtained catalyst complexes were tested in the oxidation of prochiral sulfides with an aqueous 35%
hydrogen peroxide solution. The studies on the oxidation of prochiral sulfides showed that chiral sulfoxides formed
with yields of 28–90% and an enantiomeric excess (EE) of up to 96%. The nature of the solvent used was found to
determine the configuration of sulfoxide. R-sulfoxides formed in ethanol, and S-sulfoxides, in methylene.
