Abstract: The effect of alkyl chain structure of the silver carboxylates on their reduction by polyols has been studied. Unlike the branched-chain silver carboxylates, the size of the particles obtained from their linear counterparts almost does not change with time, temperature, and type of polyol. The possible ways of controlling the particles size and size distribution are discussed
