Abstract: Samples of furnace carbon black of N 234 and N 330 grades with an oxygen content of 4–8% and an acidic pH value were obtained during the low-temperature oxidation by the ozone-oxygen mixture. The specific surface area of the samples does not change significantly during oxidative treatment. The pH value, texture parameters, oxygen content of oxidized furnace carbon black N234 are close to that of channel K354; so N234 can be recommended as a substitute for channel carbon black in the formulations of special-purpose rubbers and coloring compositions
