Abstract: This study examines the characteristics of recently developed variable composition compounds LaSc3(BO3)4:R (R=Eu, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb), resulting from the partial substitution of La and/or Sc atoms. The crystals with an R32 noncentrosymmetric structure were obtained for all dopants using a 0.59LiBO2-0.41LiF flux. The position of dopant incorporation into the structure is directly dependent on the ionic radius. The luminescent and nonlinear optical properties were assessed using emission and diffuse reflection spectra and second harmonic generation techniques. Results indicate that the incorporation of R3+ ions significantly influence the crystallographic stability and optical properties, offering potential for tailored applications in laser technology and optical communications.
