Реферат:
Combustion is one of the most widespread methods for processing fuels and waste globally. Among various process modifications, thermo-catalytic fluidized-bed combustion involves high-temperature treatment of solid feedstock particles in a fluidized layer of inert material and catalyst, achieved through an ascending air flow. Traditional use of quartz sand as an inert material accelerates catalyst degradation via abrasion due to its higher hardness relative to the catalyst. This work investigates the effect of calcium modification on spherical γ-Al2O3 carrier and develops an alternative inert material to quartz sand, aiming to minimize catalyst losses through comparable mechanical strength. The modified supports were synthesized by impregnating spherical γ-Al2O3 granules with precursor solutions (calcium nitrate or acetate), followed by calcination at 800°C. The granules were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), low-temperature nitrogen adsorption (BET method), crushing strength, and abrasion resistance measurements. Results indicate the formation of an X-ray amorphous structure that reinforces the γ-Al2O3 granules. Consequently, crushing strength increases with higher Ca content, while abrasion resistance exhibits a non-linear dependence within the 2–10 wt % CaO range. Differences in mechanical properties were observed when using nitrate versus acetate precursors, and optimal CaO content was identified to minimize catalyst losses. When describing the distribution of crushing strength using the gamma distribution probability function, its normalization was observed upon the addition of more than 2 wt % calcium oxide to the composition.
