Реферат:
The decomposition of formic acid (FA) into H2 and CO2, and regeneration of FA by the reverse reaction of H2 with CO2 are currently considered as promising approach for hydrogen generation and storage, but scientific knowledge of contributing factors is still scarce, even for most effective catalysts. Here, we have carried out a comparative study in both the forward and back reactions of Pd-decorated bamboo-like N-doped carbon nanotubes (N-CNTs) and N-free multi-walled carbon nanotubes (СNTs). In line with previous studies, N-CNTs provided formation of small Pd clusters (∼1.6 nm in size) along with atomic Pd species attached to surface pyridinic nitrogen centers, and these remained unchanged under the conditions of gas-phase FA decomposition. This assured stable performance of Pd/N-CNTs during long-time catalytic runs, an increased selectivity to H2 (up to 98 %) and a higher reaction rate, as compared to Pd/CNTs (by 4 times, up to 790 h−1 at 150 °C and 1 bar). In contrast, some agglomeration of Pd nanoparticles and a decline in concentration of atomic Pd2+-NPy species was observed under the conditions of CO2 hydrogenation in liquid phase. As a consequence, catalytic properties of Pd/N-CNTs and Pd/CNTs in the reverse reaction turned out very similar. Nevertheless, selectivity of CO2 hydrogenation into FA was still equal to 100 % and the decrease in activity was rather moderate, so that the reaction rate of 10.6 h−1 could be achieved (at 150 °C and 60 bar). Possibilities of improving catalytic performance in the liquid-phase СO2 hydrogenation are discussed.
