Abstract: It has been shown that the mechanism of the poisoning of HY and PdHY zeolites by sulfur during the hydrogenation of hexene at 220oC and atmospheric pressure in the presence of thiophene involves the formation of compact sulfur-containing polymeric structures, which block the supply of reagents to the active centers of the catalyst. No significant quantities of palladium sulfides are formed.
