Abstract:
The removal of acetone vapors by a negative corona discharge combined with CuOMnO2/TiO2 catalytic post-treatment has been investigated in air at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. The efficient decomposition of O3 on CuOMnO2/TiO2 at ambient temperature has led to the formation of reactive oxygen species capable to react with molecules of acetone. This results in a significant increase of destruction rate and removal efficiency. Moreover, the catalytic post-treatment greatly enhances the acetone conversion rate into CO2. The highest rates of acetone decomposition, CO2 generation and ozone degradation were obtained for catalyst sample MnO2/TiO2 with calculated MnO2 content about 6.8%.
