Several composite catalysts based upon the Al2O3/Al matrix precursor have been prepared and tested in the methane steam reforming. The following sequence of the activity (cm3 CH4/gCat bar s) of ceramometals (cermets) was found: Ru-Ni-Cr-La-Al-O>Ni-Cr-La-Al-O=Ru-Sr-Zr-Al-O>Ni-La-Al-O>Co-La-Al-O>Rh-Sr-Zr-Al-O. The effect of the properties on the cermets’ activity are discussed. The advantages of composite materials as tube coatings for the compact steam reformers design are demonstrated.
