Abstract: Hydrolyses of corn starch and wheat dextrinized starch in a novel rotary inertial bioreactor with a heterogeneous biocatalyst have been compared. The latter was obtained by adsorption immobilization of glucose amylase on the carbon-containing foam ceramics. The construction and principles of operating of a novel RIB are described and some parameters were compared with those of the conventional flow fixed-bed bioreactors. Under the optimal conditions (rotational speed of a container no less than 80 rpm, rate of substrate supply no more than 0.2 l/h), starch saccharification capacity and activity of heterogeneous biocatalyst were 1.52 and 33.5 times higher in the RIB, than in the conventional fixed-bed bioreactor, respectively.
