Abstract:
1H NMR and EPR spectroscopic studies show that the iron centers in bis(imino)pyridine iron(II) and bis(imino)pyridine iron(III) olefin polymerization pre-catalysts LFeCl2 and LFeCl3 (L=bis(imino)pyridine) are converted upon treatment with methylaluminoxane (MAO) into ferrous complexes of the type [L(Me)Fe(II)(μ-Me)2AlMe2] or [LFe(II)(μ-Me)2AlMe2]+[Me-MAO]−.
