Abstract: New composite sorbents "salt in silica gel pores" have recently been developed and investigated at the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis, Novosibirsk. In this paper we present a mathematical model of unsteady water sorption from the air passing through a fixed bed of the composite sorbent "calcium chloride in silica gel" and apply the model for describing the NMR microimaging data on moisture distribution inside the bed as well as the data on temperature evolution in a glass cylindrical absorber. The model is shown to allow a satisfactory description of the experimental data and quantitative evaluation of mass transport parameters as well.
