Abstract: Thus, we showed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy that treating the surfaces of the metal complexes Mo/Al2O3 in the atmosphere of hydrogen or CO at 500°C results in the formation of surface structures in which the formal oxidation number of molybdenum corresponds to +6. The would-be surface hydrides of molybdenum are rather thermally stable and undergo decomposition above 400°C.
