Abstract:
The process conditions for maximal organic matter recovery and synthetic oil yield during hydroconversion of Kotsebinsk oil shale and Olenek bituminous sand were determined. In comparison with pyrolysis hydroconversion provides higher synthetic oil yield as a result of lower gas evolution and coke formation. Besides, conversion in the presence of hydrogen re-quires lower temperatures and the obtained liquid products are characterized by higher quality. This is due to the catalytic effect of mineral matrix of these materials which is probably can be assigned to aluminosilicates and Fe compounds.
