We present new results of collaborative work on theoretical and experimental investigation of the catalyst hierarchical texture effect on its activity and stability, especial attention being paid to the role of macropores. From mathematical model, describing the shape, size and pore volume of the material and using the method of random particle walks, the catalyst effectiveness was evaluated. A hard template method using polymeric microbeads has been used for the preparing ZSM-5 zeolite, alumina-supported catalysts and titania with adjustable textural parameters. In order to tune zeolitic texture, methods for controllable crystal size synthesis have been developed as well. The comparative analysis of numerical and experimental data on catalytic activity and stability of hierarchical materials in two types of catalytic reactions: heavy oil hydrotreating and water purification from metal organic chelates, both involving macromolecules, showed the material constraints and opportunities
