Abstract:
Influence of composition and heterogenization of PdZn nanoparticles with the composition ranging from 1/5 to 6/1 has been studied in selective hydrogenation of the triple bond of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol. The effect of particle composition is different for the colloidal and embedded particles, which were essentially determined by the geometric and electronic effects. Monometallic Pd colloid shows the highest activity and selectivity. An increase in the Pd:Zn ratio from 1 to 6 in the supported catalysts increased selectivity to alkene yield from 93% for the Pd catalyst to 95–96% for bimetallic catalysts, by increasing the adsorption constant of alkyne molecules. The activation conditions of supported catalysts were shown to be crucial to prepare efficient catalyst
