Abstract:
The catalytic activity of nanotubular titania films in the oxidation of acetone to carbon dioxide under the action of visible light with a wavelength of 450 nm was found to be about one order of magnitude higher as compared to commercial titanium dioxide (Degussa P25). The nanotubular films were grown by anodization of titanium foil using an original technique and afterword annealed at different calcination temperatures in the range from 200 to 600°C. Diffuse reflectance spectra of the films allow attributing the enhanced activity in visible spectrum to nonstoichiometry of titanium dioxide near the interface between nanotubular film and titanium foil
