Abstract: In the current work we have studied the effect of PVP removal on the performance of Ru NPs made by polyol synthesis in hydrogenation of galactose to galactitol. The colloidal method based on a precise control over size and shape of NPs together with an optimal method of carbon pretreatment and PVP removal procedure is expected to provide high catalytic activity in various structure sensitive hydrogenation reactions.
