Abstract:
Chemical Vapour Deposition (СVD) of different organic compounds over bulk nichrome alloy in a closed system at almost autoclave conditions was studied. The approach of Reactions under Autogenic Pressure at Elevated Temperature (RAPET) was applied to study the decomposition of different halogen-containing organic compounds over bulk Ni-Cr alloy (nichrome wire) with formation of carbon nanostructures. This method based on thermolysis of organic precursors in a closed volume. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied to examine the samples. Ferromagnetic resonance spectrometry (FMR) was applied to follow the appearance of dispersed nickel particles as a result of bulk metal disintegration at RAPET conditions. This method was shown to be rather effective for in situ diagnostics of the Ni-containing samples exposed to RAPET conditions. In some cases highly organized submicron structures of halogenated Ni-species was found to appear at the RAPET conditions when the closed reaction volume contains both hydrogen and halogen sources. Such species were shown to be stable in a narrow range of temperature. These species are believed to play an important role in catalytic corrosion of nickel and its alloys and, perhaps, in the processes of catalytic growth of carbon nanomaterials via decomposition of halogenated hydrocarbons.
