Abstract: The depletion of crude resources, the growing demand for clean hydrocarbon fuels, and vital tendency to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions have caused ascending interest in the involvement of renewable feeds for their production. Triglyceride-based feedstock (TG) is a very attractive renewable source for motor fuel production. Linear hydrocarbons obtained from hydrotreatment of TG, valuable diesel components, are fully compatible with petroleum-derived products. Co-processing of TG with petroleum distillates over traditional hydrotreating sulphide Co(Ni)Mo/Al2O3 catalysts in existing refinery units is a promising method to pro-duce renewable fuels. However, co-processing is complicated by two simultaneous processes: hydrodeoxygenation and hydrotreating. The literature data concerning the effect of TG addi-tion on the activity of CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst in the hydrodesulphurization of gas oil is rather contradictory. Besides, there is no common point of view on the reason of HDS activity decrease of CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst in the presence of TG: acids, alcohols, water, and carbon oxides can act as inhibitors of HDS activity. The present work is focused on a comparative study of the impact of rapeseed oil (RSO) and carbon monoxide on the activity of sulphide CoMo/Al2O3 and NiMo/Al2O3 catalysts in hydrodesulphurization of straight run gas oil (SRGO) including ULSD production.
