Abstract: The proposed approach to diagnostics of the migration processes taking place in Rh/Al2O3 and Pd-Rh/Al2O3 catalysts based on the luminescence of Rh3+ ions stabilized within alpha phase was demonstrated as highly sensitive one. An introduction of lanthanum in the form of isolated ions homogeneously distributed within the bulk of γ-Al2O3 besides the thermal stabilization effect leads to an appearance of new luminescence sites of Rh3+ in the bulk of alumina at temperatures near 800 °C, when gamma phase only is registered by the X-ray diffraction analysis. The position of allowed transitions 1A1g→ 1T1g, 1T2g for Rh3+ allows one to differentiate the luminescence sites for such oxide matrices as α-Al2O3, LaAl11O18 and LaAlO3.
