Due to current global changes in the climate and depletion of fossil fuels, rational use of energy in dwellings has been becoming of increasing importance. An effective method for heat and humidity regeneration in ventilation systems in cold countries, called Ventireg, was suggested and tested. In this approach, the indoor air passes consecutively through an adsorbent (Ad) and heat storing (HS) beds, where indoor moisture and heat are respectively absorbed. Then, outdoor air passes in the opposite direction, is heated and withdraws the retained moisture, thus, maintaining the indoor temperature and humidity balance. The properties of the adsorbent is key-factor, affecting the efficiency of the humidity regeneration in Ventireg units. This communication is aimed at the selection (or intent synthesis) of the adsorbent specialized for the Ventireg system. First, based on analysis of the climatic conditions in the Western Siberia taken from a Meteonorm database, the thermodynamic requirements to the adsorbent optimal for the Ventireg are formulated. Then, the literature data on the water sorption on various composites "salt inside porous matrix", CSPMs are analyzed to select the best composites for heat/humidity regeneration. The composites based on LiBr, and CaCl2 in the silica gel mesopores appear to be the promising for the Western Siberia region. Moreover, their affinity to water vapor is strong enough to dry the indoor air and prevent the moisture freezing at the unit outlet. At the same time, it is not too strong, and the composites can be regenerated by low-temperature heat stored in the HS bed and exchange 0.4-0.5 g/g in the cycle.
