A method of catalytic cleaning a waste gas of organic ingredients and of carbon monoxide consists in passing the waste gas through a deep oxidation catalyst. The process is carried out at a temperature of 250-700 DEG C. The catalyst consists of two parts. At the beginning the waste gas is passed through the first part of the catalyst layer then mixed and passed through the second layer of the catalyst. Mixing is continued until a temperature gradient in the flow of the treated gas of more than 50 DEG C is obtained at the inlet point to the second part of the catalyst layer and each consecutive direction of the waste gas passage and the cleaned gas discharge is changed to the opposite direction in relation to the previous one.
