A fire protection plate consisting of two metal sheets (1, 2) and support elements enclosing a flat space (5) under a reduced pressure is characterized in that at least one of these sheets is provided with a layer (3, 4) of material which - at a normal working temperature - physically or chemically stores water, and releases it as steam at elevated temperatures.
