The determination of kinetic rate constants was based on a transformation of differential equations into algebraic ones through direct calculations of their constituent functions from experimentally available data. The functions that required quantitative differentiation or integration were named supporting functions. The method was found to be of wide applicability, convenient for practical use, and applicable to the solution of the problems of varying complexity, especially so in cases when othermethods were inconvenient or inapplicable. The introduction of supporting functions provides useful criteria for the systematization, evaluation, and exploration of nonstandard methods of computation.
