In the present paper we focus on the influence of chemical composition of raw coals on their complex processing to methanol, coke, heat, electricity through gasification. The process scheme optimization is based on the detailed thermodynamic calculations. The process efficiency is determined by the maximum exergy efficiency of the whole scheme. Gasification temperature and water fed to gasification reactor with coal are the process variable parameters. Raw coals of trade marks A, T, OS, K, I, G and B are studied. Calcn. and optimization are presented as charts reflecting the quantitative parameters of the target products chosen. Process exergy efficiency is given for the production of all target products but at the max. output of only one of them. The effect of coal quality analyzed shows that it is possible to produce the same amounts of target products such as methanol, heat and electricity varying the process conditions. Moreover, under the optimum conditions of complex coal processing its exergy efficiency remains constant, though the quality of raw coals varies within a wide range.
